Mule Deer Hunts
Arizona is home to both the desert and Rocky Mountain mule deer. In the central and northern half of the state, "mulies" are hunted by spot and stalk. The north rim of the Grand Canyon is famous for its heavy and multi-branched antlered bucks in the Kaibab National Forest. In the southern half of our state, mule deer bucks are glassed up in mesquite flats and juniper mountain valleys. A 300+ yard shot is not uncommon here so make sure your rifle is sighted in accordingly.
Rifle hunters are placed in a draw in early June. Hunts take place in October or November. Archery hunters can have a multi-species deer hunt over the counter in December for either mule or coues deer. In January javelina can be taken as well as deer for a fine multi-species adventure.
