Javelina Hunts

The javelina or collared peccary is one of the most intriguing of all Arizona big game animals. Most often the biggest challenge is finding these clever critters that are able to disappear right before your eyes. We hunt javelina via spot and stalk and occasionally by calling techniques. We called in a large boar January 23, 2006 for a Lieutenant at Davis Monthan Air Force Base who sealed the deal with his bow. We hunt javelina in January with archery equipment and offer a combo hunt for deer during the entire month. February hunts cater to handgun, muzzleloader and rifle hunters. Due to their poor eye sight javelina are very stalkable. Given proper wind conditions hunters can stalk to within a few yards of the herd. Bring your hiking shoes and be prepared to smile a lot during this hunt-javelina are just plain fun.
