Joe Letarte is a native mid-westerner gone north, way north in fact! Joe has been a master guide in Alaska for almost 30 years. He and his wife run one of Alaska’s most successful outfits for fishing and big game hunting. Joe spends his winters in Arizona guiding coues deer, mule deer, elk and javelina hunters. In turn, Pat and Dan spend part of their summers guiding trophy big game hunters out of Joe’s camps in Yakatat, the Alaska Range and the Yukon River Valley. Joe is a soon to be accomplished author of adventures in Alaska both wonderful and those that have gone from bad to worse. He is one of the funniest sportsmen you will ever meet and many of the guides in camp request to hear his stories at night around the campfire. His willingness to do whatever it takes to make his clients successful and his hilarious cavalier demeanour make him a real pleasure to be around.
Bob Stevens was born and raised on the San Carlos Apache Indian Reservation. Bob's gift for guiding came in part, from being a student of the ways of the Apache people and their relationship with the outdoors. Bob's greatest influence and teacher was his father. Bob has lived the life of an outdoorsman for over 35 years. Bob has been guiding for over 23 years and has been an owner/outfitter/guide for more than 15 years. Bob has pursued big and small game as well as fish with one simple belief: He is always the student: “To learn from the outdoors is to become one step closer to the game”. His hunters have harvested some of the most impressive trophies available in North America and as such, he is well versed in judging trophy animals. Diamond Outfitters is ecstatic to have Bob Stevens guiding for us!
Matt Cannon is native to northern California. Growing up with a father who was both a professor of recreation and professional horse-packer, it was only natural that Matt would grow up with a passion for the outdoors. Matt has harvested big game animals in Arizona, Utah and California. His favorite hunts to guide for are wilderness backpacking hunts, especially for archers. Matt has an uncanny 6th sense for judging what an animal’s next step will be so that he and his clients stay ahead of the game. Matt understands the power of good optics and his hunters are always involved in all aspects of the hunt. Matt is also a fly-fisherman extraordinaire and a dutch oven champion chef. One hunt with Matt and you will see why he is such a valuable guide to Diamond Outfitters.
Brian Payne is a 3rd generation Arizona hunter and a graduate of the University of Arizona. Brian has volunteered numerous hours working with groups such as The Arizona Game and Fish Department, Arizona Hunters Who Care and The U.S. Forest Service on fish and wildlife habitat restoration projects. With over 20 years of hunting experience in Arizona, Brian has spent a great deal of time both in Arizona's high country in persuit of elk, mule deer and black bear, and in the desert of Arizona in pursuit of coues whitetail, desert mule deer and javalina. Brian's amazing glassing ability and knowledge of game and their habits combined with his ability to navigate the back country and find the "hot spots" will maximize your harvest and trophy opportunities.
